Daniel's success was his ability to please a pagan dictator without compromising his convictions about Jehovah God. His success brought glory to God and a deep satisfaction and joy to himself and his friends. Pastor: Eugene P. Harder * Daniel 1:1-4 * 8/13/2000 I love success stories and thats why Daniel is one of my favourite Old Testament characters. He is an example of someone who becomes the head and not the tail, someone God raised to the top in a spectacular way. In 606 B.C. young Daniel was taken captive to Babylon where he lived during the entire period of the Babylonian Captivity of Judah. He saw the horror of the siege of Jerusalem by the Babylonians and witnessed the holy temple being stripped of it's priceless treasures. Imagine the experience of Daniel being taken to the most spectacular city of the world, Babylon the great. There he was elevated to positions of authority and influence. |
