Formed For God’s Family Last week God won as big victory in our church. We worshipped the Lord by releasing our rights to the kind of public worship we as a church offer to the Lord.
This was an act of consecration that was symbolized by placing symbols of our worship preferences on the altar. Some placed hymn books on the altar and others placed cymbals, drum sticks and contemporary music. Our motivation for this was the example of Abraham yielding his right to Isaac by placing him of the altar.

Some men die by bullets, others die by flames. Still others die by inches playing silly little games. It troubles me to see relatives and friends treating life like a game of trivial pursuit. What a tragedy to squander your life and never realize the wonderful dreams God has for you. The Christmas story is pregnant with the dynamic of God’s eternal purposes. John the Baptist was a purpose driven herald. Consider Zechariah, the aged father of John the Baptist. He was blessed and challenged by an angel of the Lord. We pick up the story in Luke 1:13. But the angel said to him: "Do not be afraid, Zechariah; your prayer has been heard. Your wife Elizabeth will bear you a son, and you are to give him the name John. |
