The Taliban forces in Afghanistan are being beaten into subjection by the 15,000# Daisy Cutter. God's vision is for a people who will trust the explosive power of love. Nov. 11/01 This week the United States dropped their ultimate conventional bomb (the Daisy Cutter) on the Taliban forces in Afghanistan. The Daisy Cutter is 15,000 lb. non-nuclear bomb. It destroys all life and objects within a radius of ½ a kilometre. On this Remembrance Day let's focus on God's ultimate weapon. Its a weapon that is infinitely more powerful than the Daisy Cutter. Neither the Taliban nor Osama Ben Ladin understand the power and possibilities of this weapon that gives life and not death. |

A churches genetic code represents the values and objectives that shaped its formative identity. It represents the essential elements necessary to accomplish its ultimate goal to ". . . present everyone perfect in Christ." (Colossians 1:28 NIV) Dec. 17\2000 This week General Motors announced that it was phasing out the Oldsmobile auto division. Some of us have fond memories of being the proud owners of a noble Oldsmobile. The second family car my father purchased was an Oldsmobile. That was the first car I drove when I turned 16. |

God's desire to be loved is not a mushy sentimental passion but a craving for His creatures to pursue Him as their only God, with all their mental, emotional and physical faculties. Luke 10:27 When I was twelve years old I had some pen pals. I remember thinking that I loved this girl in Winnipeg even though I had never seen her or heard her voice. People called that puppy love. There are times when I suspect that our professed love for God could be more accurately expressed as puppy love. We mouth emotional expressions of love for God that may or may not be the true expression of our hearts. |

The greatest announcement ever made is that God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish but have everlasting life." John 3:16 What is the most exciting announcement you've ever heard? When I was six, World War II was raging and sugar was in short supply. My dad had a transport business that hauled all the supplies from Calgary to our town of Crossfield. About once a month he would come in from work and make the following announcement, "I delivered ice cream to Lee's Cafe today." We were each given five cents and off we would run for a cone before the ice cream was sold out. To a six year old, ice cream in town was the world's best announcement. |

Luke 10:25-37 When we trip over a hurting person on the road of life, Jesus says, "That is your neighbour, love him with what is in your hand." Lurking below the surface of most people is the desire to be cool. That is why we are held hostage to the fashion industry. At school and seminars we ask real cool questions not to get information, but because we want to look brilliant. I remember one time I asked the lecturer what I thought was a real cool question. He replied, "Mr. Harder, are you asking this or are you asking that?" Instantly my question looked pompous and irrelevant. I tried to slide under the desk. |
