Exodus 5:2--23. Success is distant mirage when we are wallowing in the humilation of personal defeat, feeling abandoned by God When was the last time that you told someone in a bold confident manner that something was going to happen and it never materialized? Can you remember the humilation of eating crow? Maybe you were having company over and you did some crowing about this new recipe and it flopped. When things don't pan out like you boldly say they will its Humbling isn't it? A cynic might say, "that's the story of my life, nothing ever works out as planned." Perhaps you heard a preacher say that God answers prayer and that supplies all our needs according to His riches in glory. You pray and pray and pray for a job. Your friends pray and pray and pray and a year later you still don't have a job. What do you do when God doesn't perform to your expectations? What do you do when you've been obedient to the voice of God and things still don't click for you? What do you do when your cynical friends tell you, "You can't trust God anymore." What do you do when God doesn't perform to your expectations. From this Old Testament story we will discover one of the reasons why God doesn't perform to our expectations within our timetable. How do you deal with the humiliation of personal defeat. This Bible story shows us how a great man of God handled the humiliation of defeat. |
